That’s a good question Doug. I wonder too if the new formula is compatible with the old. I would think it is but you never know. I did watch the video but not all of it so I don’t remember it being mentioned.
Chris your figures look excellent. I too have run into the problem of a chalky appearance from time to time and I think it’s just a matter of paint consistency. I do let it slip myself once in a while.
I realize that this new formula Vallejo Model Color paint is newly released; however, I just have to ask…
…has anyone seen it for sale yet?
A search online at Vallejo and online hobby shops just shows their “Game Color” (for wargaming figures) as being the new Vallejo paint.
I have not seen it yet no.
I have not seen it yet no.
Nor any Third Party reviews on it yet besides what is posted here… We’ll just have to wait for the release.
Two weeks ago, I emailed my questions directly to Vallejo. This reply just came through:
You can use and mix the new Model Colors as the traditional ones.
All are water based and they are compatibles.
I was also provided with a new Model Color Chart which may be found on the Vallejo website (first chart on the page).
This is very good news for those of us who use Vallejo paints.
Yeah that is great news considering I have so many. Thanks for finding that out for us.
I believe that two online USA stores are now selling this. Maybe it’s been on sale for a while, but this is news to me.

My last two orders from Scale Hobbyist included some bottles with the new labels.
Amazon now seems to be stocking the new Vallejo Model Colors (as shown by the labels) in paint sets although I don’t know if you will actually get the new Model Colors or the original (old stock) paint formula sets.
