Vietnam War M151A1 Mutt

Pictures of my version of a Vietnam M151 convoy escort. Not entirely finished yet. Have to scratch a few small parts and finish weathering.
Kit is from Tamiya. Used the update parts from Petition2God on Cults3D and Legends.

Thinking about a diorama combined with my 2 1/2 ton guntruck.

where did you get all the ammo for the guntruck, the belts and spent shell casings?

Very nice!

Nice looking rigs. My only comment would be that the truck bed is pretty cluttered. Gun crew would have trouble walking around on all that spent brass. Wayne

You tell me… four .50 cal M2’s with a rate of fire (approximately 600 rounds a minute), ejecting spent casings straight down for maybe 3-5 minutes of firing. Where else does the brass go? I am going by this photo.

Wasn’t saying that, only that from what I’d heard and read they would have cleaned them up as soon as possible to make it easier to service the guns. Not a criticism, just a personal thought. Wayne

The Vietnamese kids on the base would make quick work of that.

Never saw a lot of kids on bases, mostly hootch maids and day laborers with some working in mess halls etc. Wayne

Great looking models, Rob! I look forward to seeing these in one of your upcoming dioramas.

I understand. My intention was always to make a guntruck that was returning to base from a convoy that had been ambushed. I wanted it to look like it had been through a harrowing “life or death” situation rather than a typical “sterile” model show presentation. Same treatment to the Mutt, but I haven’t placed any 7.62 casings as most would have ejected off to the right. Adding a picture of a SEAL boat I did a few years ago to show how I like to add the “debris of war”.
My major problem is finding good figures to place around the vehicles.

And another:

I just 3D printed the .50’s. I could print about 13 racks of thirty empty cases in less than 30 minutes. Then spray with high luster spray paint from Walmart. I just scaled them down to make 7.62 cases.

I really enjoy your models. They are second to none! The realisme in the dios, the paint job, detailing and weathering is impressive!
