I think it looks great Erwin :+1: !

Thanks guys. You give me the confidence to do the same thing on the smock!

Right… The smock has been painted in its camouflage pattern. The small bit on the front in green is because the garment was reversible with a spring/summer pattern on the reverse side. Yet still enough more than enough to do.

Coming along very nicely Erwin :+1: !

Yes, looking good so far. Good catch on the plaquette; the construction of the smock meant that details such as this and the access slots on the early type appeared on the “wrong” side.

Thanks fellas. I really thrive on such minor details. They make these figures come to life.

After being on a side track for some time I finally picked up the courage to tackle the scarf. I wanted to represent a civilian scarf to give him some colour and something from home..
Mens’ scarfs could be quite colourful I found out while searching. Inspired by this picture I decided to create a nice pattern:

As I am not too good at patterns, I made a bit less intricate:

I hope I have don the bust a bit of justice…

Thank you so much Matt… There is enough left to do, but the end is in sight!

That is a beautiful result Erwin- a nice touch of colour amongst the more drab military tones.

Really like that scarf, very authentic. There are some old pictures of Waffen SS men taken in the French campaign of 1940 and they are all wearing colourful scarves (one is tartan IIRC) which completely undermine the effect of the camouflaged clothing!

Ááánd another one bites the dust! After all the challenges I faced on this magnificent bust I can call it done and dusted! While nearly done I discovered a couple of hidden or plainly ignored details, like the small part of the sweater visible through the front of the smock. Oh, and not to forget the string and eyelets.
I also added some mud to the bipod, and made the holster for the side arm a bit scuffed as crawling on the ground is not too good for it.
@Uncle-Heavy : could you change WIP in the title for done?
Now for the pics:

Nicely done Erwin , beautiful !!! Did you think about using the AK markers ? , ………. just wondering if they would have been a plus to use in this larger scale .

Thanks Glenn,
In this case I haven’t used them as they miss the finesse for this kind of detail painting. Also the colours needed aren’t there.
I did use them for my previous SAS gunner, however. Specially the highlights of the battledress and shmagh.

Congrats on getting it all finished up Erwin- it is a really nice piece of work finished in that particular camo scheme. I like the way you have scuffed up the leather items too and also the way you have finished the face.

Many thanks for the kind words Karl. This one has been quite a journey, but I must say that I am quite proud of the end result!
