Some pin holes in those Musette bags, but you’ll be able to those in with CA. I like to shave off the straps underneath the buckles and add a little bit of foil. Gives it a bit of a nicer look.
Bags look nice, but I am not sure they would be stored there … they would be covered in crap in seconds, probably get water logged as well ?? more suited to the turret or higher areas ??
Technically you are right but i like how it looks
Then that’s where they should stay
Perhaps if you put Red Cross markings on them, it would make total sense. Quick access for a medic to grab more supplies if he needs them.
Hi
Hadn’t looked at this before, like what you’ve done for the most part, but the shovel.
The amount of rust suggests it’s never been used, which I think is unlikely. The crew will do daily shovel recce’s when in the field - field latrine - so the blade will shine, not rust. If they’re also digging shell scrapes, clearing snow, filling sandbags etc - more shine. That shine is often covered with a sandbag over the blade.
Like your ammo box, did similar, but used jumbo sticks for the wood & teabag string for the rope handles, Didn’t do hinges & clasps, but should.

I gave the box a very thin dark wash so it does not look to bright as i try to keep the all the colors toned together.
With the shovel, you are right, but i see this whole tank as kind of learning process, so some things maybe look good but are probably not 100% realistic.
Dont forget this is my second tank and there should be some space for further improvment
Hi Jacomo
I was going for the sun bleached look for my ammo box. NZ has high UV during summer, like Aussie.
Modeling as a whole is a learning process, so 100% get that.
Actually a really good effort - just the shovel looked off.

Can you do some pics from the painting, i really Like to see how it works out
Do you mean of the ammo box?
I went the authentic route - left it in a sunny spot.
Don’t have any recent photo’s of the box as I changed the stowage for a simfire unit.

Getting there. The wear pattern is fairly specific - the front edge of the blade is shiny bright - like chrome, the foot rests tend to be bright, but not chrome bright, the depression where the blade meets handle is dark, the high points either side are bright. That bright wear extends from the high points mentioned, to the blade, in an upside down Y shape - assuming the blade is down, handle up. The Y edges are not straight, tend to inward curve.
The handle top is polished wood, as is the wood immediately above the blade socket, sometimes extending on to the socket. The handle between those points is not as intensely worn.
If the shovel has been used in stony ground the middle of the tip of the blade starts to erode in a crescent shape - chrome bright edges.
If my google foo was strong, I’d have a photo at my fingertips, unfortunately I’m not HP.

I started to paint the figure which came with the kit, i guess i need smaller brushes as 00, i did not get the small details very accurate
For me figure painting is the hardest thing i can imagine
Can somebody provide a link to a uniform color reference?
