Weathering German Armor using Cat Hair

Weathering german Armor Models with Cat Hair

STEP 1. Base Coat, typically for German Tanks RED OXIDE.

STEP 2 – Get some Cat Hair, wet the surface with water. Spread out the Cat Hair as desired and let dry overnight.

STEP 3. Next coat the area with the final color(s), this can include camouflage. Let this dry for 30 minutes, if the paint gets too dry you won’t be able to remove all the Cat Hair.

STEP 4. Use tweezers, X-actor, Single Edge razor blades to remove the Cat Hair.

STEP 5. Final result is a distressed look, now you can add rust, dust etc.

Good one. I had a REAL problem with cat hair in my paint, until I trained my wife’s cat with a water pistol to stay out of my shop.

My work bench is right next to the clothes dryer. Would dryer lint work the same??

Does this apply only for German armor? What do modellers building Russian/Soviet and British armor? And what about modellers with a cat hair allergy? If I want to build a Tiger, do I need a Tiger fur?
