Revell 42 Gelboliv is indeed a near perfect match for the real thing; in fact it’s so good it has that light-sucking colour density that the real thing has (when new).
When I recommend Tamiya’s acrylic XF-51, I do so as it is a tad lighter than the Revell paint (just) and seems much more in scale, assuming one buys in to scale colour. I sort of do(!)
Anyway, to all and any Bundeswehr modellers out there looking for a good Gelboliv, (pre NATO-flage that is) by all means give Revell 42 a go, but consider Tamiya XF-51 Khaki Drab.
I came a bit further with my Unimog in the last days. Finished the engine which felt like 100 parts but in fact it were “only” 23. Not much of it will be seen later, so I kept sanding here to a minimum.
Moving on with the M920. The hood is just a dry fit to help with aligning the cab. I’m leaving the front indicator guards off as they didn’t seem to feature on the M920’s I’ve seen online. I’ll move on to the fifth wheel and rear deck later this week.
I have the Minimanfactory M916 LET in the stash and once the trailer and load is finished, the M916 might be my next build.
If you build a C-HET my advice would be to build the Hobby Boss edition. I built the Meng one first and found it a strangely depressing experience. The parts seemed to be spread all over the sprues in such a random way.
The HB one was a more pleasant experience all round.
I had a cyst removed from my left shoulder. 2 or 3 years ago my wife who was still fairly
healthy at that time, was helpful with changing the bandages for the week or so that it was needed. Thankfully this time, the procedure site was / is in a less difficult spot. Still I miss having her around to fuss over me and change the wound dressing with a decent sized band-aid which remained in place for about a day or two. Before being able to take it off. I don’t know what us men would do without a good woman in our lives. Well actually I do now, SIGH missing her terribly and trying to get on with my life without her.
