Thanks. AFV Club M54 base. Mikey Bugs M813 cab set. Panzer Art wheels, and a PSM pod set. A great little project that I enjoyed building.
Lovely looking Dub Ryan @Tank_1812 … And an amazing job with the cargo bed on the Blitz Angel @ayovtshev … That fuel pod set up looks really good D @Denimo …
Me ? Well, just a bit of a clean up on the desk.
Thanks John. What’s the next project?
Not overly model related, but it was done on the workbench…
I am getting my medals remounted, and will eventually get those, a few rank slides and my army recruiting rank chevrons and capbadges put into a deep picture frame…
While I was sorting a few things out, I got my 2 old Blues and Royals (RHG/D) cap badges out (1 from a beret which was also cleaned …at least 24 years since last clean lol)
Anyway… Due to regimental traditions, our capbadge is always blackened.
They would always come from stores in a slightly darkened metal, but never black, so we would do that ourselves…
I initially soaked them in cellulose thinner for about 2 hours then cleaned them up to this…
And one re-blacked.
Back to modelling soon.
I keep promising to do the same - well - my medals are fine, but my stable belt, lanyard and side-cap from my first Corps all need to be properly displayed. I’m not so sure about my time in the AGC(SPS); the very concept was crap, but I did turn to the right and present myself (and do my job) as best I could for around a second batch of twenty years; I’m just not sure what I’ll choose to keep or display.
Keep us posted John and let us see the finished result; I certainly need some ideas.
Johnny, just curious, are the new cap badges now with CR III?
All London district units involved in ceremonial duties received updated CR III badges and rank badges etc within a few weeks as a priority. All other unit stores will get them trickle fed as they demand new badges etc and they will get replaced that way. There was never a plan to replace everything in the army in one go.
Forgot about the stable belts … I have 3 RHG/D ones and about 4 MPGS ones as they kept changing the buckle. I will probably cut down one the RHG/D ones to have just the leather strap section and 3 or 4 inches of belt either side showing.
Finished my SAS jeep. Now it is stored safely on the wall of shame until I get around to build a base for it.
Got to practice some simple scratch building with the turret front on this one. Worked on it for a bit, almost done.
This time around we have a Pz 38t rearmed with a 20k 45mm gun.
That will make a nice shadow box for the I love me wall. Units will present these for folks leaving the unit/retirement or at least we did. Mine is still unfinished, imagine that.
Need to do my ones, only been 20 years, since I said I would do my ones.
And the next minute they’re covered in mould, or holed by moths, or worse, you’ve piled in and your NOK are saying “What the hell do we do with this stuff?”!
