Rumour has it that the German counter offensive on the Western Front in winter 1944 was actually for the purpose of capturing similar items from the Allies, and that if it wasn’t for a misheard radio communication, the campaign would have been know by its proper name of Battle of the Bowls

The pan can be mounted either way; facing in or facing out. It just depends on what way the soldier found to wedge the pan into the other gear so it would not fall off. There is no 'right way."
