Wiking recon crew uniform help

These look really fantastic. You’ve got a really good grip on scale and color. I’ve been modeling for 54 years and I’m still hesitant to attempt this.

@SSGToms thank you SSG that’s the one added bonus of Andrea miniatures paints is the step by step. Lets me get an idea of size of the spots and how to integrate the colors.

Here’s my attempt at dot 44 with the other half of the crew:

These are great looking. I just did my second attempt at the relatively simple splinter camo but let’s just say there won’t be any pics of that.

@brekinapez id say splinter camo is hard when you try to do the splinters themselves. Even then the variations of how to do it make it unique but i know what you mean. What paint sets did you use for the slinger camo and what did you use to paint the splinters?

@metalhead85 thank you!

I used the Vallejo Panzer Aces acrylics as that is what I had handy, although I suspect the colors aren’t quite correct. The splinters are difficult at that scale but I basically used a very thin brush with little paint so as not to flood it which ended up with most of them being very faint.

I have been moving a lot of my paints over to just Tamiya and the newer AK stuff as I have been getting better results with those and was considering trying the 3G paint sets AK has for the various camos.

@brekinapez ill say the ak stuff is really good. I also use Andrea miniatures now and then because of the step by step. I’ve used shaved down toothpicks time and again for splinters before but I’ve also thought of plucking some of the brush threads to try the splinter effect.
