WIP3D has four new M113 conversions
Very interesting stuff. I haven’t heard of the company before… Any additional info or images?
Cheers,
Mario
No more photos, I am afraid… they have a large catalogue of kits and conversions and you can order directly from them. Check their website at WIP 3D – stampa in 3D
Ultra-cool stuff!
Time to buy a whole case of M113 donor kits …
I love anything M113. We need the M901, the M150 the 113 version with pop-up M220 tow, and various mortar tracks. There’s all kinds of stuff that was common during the cold war, but is unavailable for some reason. It’s hard to even find the M577 command track. We keep getting oddball stuff that had very little impact in history. Is it any wonder that the M113 FO spotter doesn’t sell? If they would have done the M901 hammerhead instead, it would be sold out. Of wait, Italeri did the M901. Its sold out almost immediately. I think that the Tamiya M113 FO track sold like a turd largely because it is inconsequential in history. They confused its unpopularity with people not wanting better M113 kits. We want GOOD M113 kits. Companies not putting out an M113a2 in a larger scale is just leaving money on the table.
Great looking “everyting” M113!" Now offer them in 1/16 to add to Andys Hobby Headquarters 1/16 scale M113. Fantastic!
Maybe I just don’t see the larger picture but I still think the m113 is still relevant today. Not as an AFV but as a logistics mule. It can transport troops to close to the action. It can haul materials at a company level. It is armored for bullets and shrapnel. Good size for an ambulance. It can go most places. I think of it as an armored truck. Am I missing the boat? Wasn’t it a good mortar vehicle?
Did newer vehicle just out perform it in all of these rolls or did we just get newer vehicles to replace it? I don’t remember it being a maintenance hog. Inquiring minds want to know.
That is the XM734. It was one of the early prototypes for an IFV that eventually evolved into the Bradley. It was in response to the Soviet BMP-1, the world’s first IFV.
Hobby Link makes a conversion set for it that includes interior parts.
