WW2 Soviet Branch of Services Distinctions

I have a book on WW2 Soviet uniforms that lists branch of service distinctions. I guess I’m curious about what branch of service certain troop types belong to. For example, tank riders in a tank brigade. Would these be considered in the infantry branch?

What about motorcycle troops?

My own opinion is that you can’t really tell a branch just because they’re riding on the back of a tank. They could be infantry. They could also be support troops.

Motorcycle troops could most likely be recon troops; but that might be a bit of a stretch too.

I tend to agree. Tank riders in this particular case were the tank rider battalion assigned to a tank brigade late in the war. Motorcycle regiments and battalions existed. I’m not sure what their branch of service should be. I think they were assigned to tank corps and mechanized corps.
