You might need this crutch-grabber

Something for those who struggle with manipulating tiny parts – I’m not sure what its proper term is, but it’s from a jeweller’s tool kit - for picking up small gems and placing them in mounts. It’s a crutch for grabbing – no more pinging off the tweezers into the carpet monster.

Press the end and claws gradually extend outwards from the business end. Release to grab…

I have what appears to be the same tool however much larger crutches. The tiny ones seem much better (that’s what she said).

“I grab 'em by the crotches. They let me do it!” Hmmm…!

A toothpick and a block of beeswax, or even a candle, is the simplest, and cheapest!

A link would be appreciated. I’d like to try one of these.

Unsure where or even if he bought the item.

Tim weren’t you in Melbourne in 2013? Specifically the day of August 27 2013? And if it so pleases the court, weren’t you also an amateur florist at the time, with a fetish for balaclavas, and grey hair? I think we can safely deduce this item was scooped up in an audacious robbery, hence the lack of a link for its purchase! I rest my case….

Thanks for the reminder.

Not guilty…I wasn’t an amateur florist

Actually my wife just bought a retired jeweller’s tool kit at auction for a song, mainly for her own purposes but knowing something might interest me too. I’m so glad I’ve taken this tool away from her, now that I know what it’s actually called…

“Piercing Ball Grabber”… That sounds even worse.

I have heard rumours that some eat crayons instead of using them as pickup tools.
