I’ve been modelling (on and off) since around 1982/3 I would think. The first kit I bought with my own money was Tamiya’s 1/35 Schwimmwagon. I did a terrible job but I was convinced it was the best ever.
I was a soldier in the British Army for 13 years - a Sapper working on Amphibious bridging equipment (M2D) an Armoured Engineer (Chieftan AVRE) and as a Plant Op Mechanic (POM) within my Armoured Engineer Regiment. I served operationally twice in Northern Ireland (Search), The Gulf War and three tours of the Balkans (UN, IFOR & SFOR).
I’ve been a Flight Test Engineer for 16.5 years, mainly rotary wing military platforms and currently am a Systems Engineer within the global rail industry.
I’ve built kits in almost every genre, but have settled now into 1/48 Aircraft (mainly WWII German) and 1/35 AFV. I now consider myself pretty competent and will usually detail most of the kits I buy with AM sets - in fact, I can’t think of one where I didn’t do that in the last 5 years or so.
