1/35 1V14 MT-LBu

1/35 1V14 MT-LBu artillery battery command and forward observer vehicle, 20th Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Armored Division “Salah ad Din,” Iraqi 3rd Army Corps “Al Qadisiyah,” Battle of al Khafji, Saudi Arabia, January 1991.

This is the SP Designs resin kit, with metal tracks from the Friulmodel 2S1, tow cables from Eureka XXL, R-123 radio antennas from Aber, and DShK machine gun from ET Model, plus some minor scratchbuilt details. The decals were drawn by me in Adobe Illustrator and printed by DRAW!Decal.

Another superb rendition Matt! Your paint and weathering jobs on these vehicles are amazing- carefully considered and realistic- they are a joy to look at and see all the dings, dents, scrapes and worn areas. I was wondering what sort of wash/pin wash you use for these sorts of colors?

Beautiful work, fantastic finishing. Your weathering details generate a lot of interest on a monochromatic vehicle. Excellent model.

Very nice, I like it a lot. Perhaps you would be interested to have a feature photo article published on Armorama? I think the main site would be a good option, so the images would not get lost in the forums… what do you think?

Great result as usual !

I built the Panzershop one years ago but it was not as nice as yours.

I used to own one of these…..lovely little vehicle, very quick!

It is a wonder Trumpeter hasn’t put one out.

Thanks Karl! I try to keep the weathering minimal to match my references, which is great since I’m lazy  I don’t do pin washes, exactly. I use Oilbrusher dark brown to paint shadows with a fine detail brush. Small details like bolt heads and hooks just get a small blob underneath. I was a bit sloppy with this model but I was in a hurry to get it finished. On moving parts, like closed hatches or engine grates, I use a fine-tipped artist’s black marker to make the shadow.

Thanks brother. It’s a challenge to give an interesting finish to single-color vehicles, and I love it!

Merci Olivier! I didn’t know Panzershop did one, very cool. I have their GSP-55, quite a kit!

I know, they released some very cool stuff for a while there. The only things Russian I would want at this point are some T-55s from them, Takom and MiniArt notwithstanding.

The finish looks beautiful.

It is certainly not their best kit. The detail is a bit simplistic but it came with Friul Dushka and tracks. The true issue was the wrong sensor housing on the side of the turret.
