After a long break and some much-needed motivation from a week-long vacation, I’ve decided to start the AA Centurion Mk.2 ARV. This kit has been sitting on my shelf (one of my shelf queens) for years, and unfortunately, with the recent news of AA closing down , it spurred me to finally start it.
I have to admit, I’m a little apprehensive. First, I’ve been avoiding resin kits due to concerns about my daughter at home, especially from a health perspective. Plus, if I find any missing parts, I’ll have to solve the issue on my own. At first glance, I haven’t noticed any missing parts, but only there’s a significant gap between the chassis and the upper deck. I’m starting by attempting to align them using heat. Hopefully, I’ll achieve a good result.
warm water and a very flat surface should help straighten the upper deck.
I get pretty hung up on the green for Australian vehicles as we used a colour called Olive Drab lustreless 7560/ADE(M)-146-1/1 and there wasn’t much in the way of good matches. I finished my Vietnam era M113A1 using Mr Color C304 lacquer and found this to be an excellent match for Australian vehicles particularly Vietnam. If you don’t used lacquers Mr Hobby H304 is the acrylic option.
This is my M113 from around the same period and I used Mr Color on it and I reckon it is very spot on.
Your M113 looks fantastic and many thanks for the tips on using warm water and especially about the Australian Olive Drab color. I’m in the searching on that and i think i’ll go with mr hobby colour
