Jenn welcome to the site. You’ll find many excellent modelers here with loads of experience and knowledge.

You’re off to a great start with an excellent diorama. All the elements- tank, building, figures and ground work look excellent. Great painting!

I do have one question- how did the troops on the second floor get up there, and how will they get down? I don’t see a ladder.

Anyway, excellent job again and welcome!

Thanks for the welcome and the kind feedback.

Good question - I imagined they’re stuck up there after the stairs or floor collapsed, probably from earlier bombing or artillery before the Soviet tank advance

Yes I suppose it’s possible. Crazy things happen in war. Welcome again!

Welcome, it’s a fantastic scene beautifully rendered – I particularly like the building, actually I like all the elements & figures too. But I’m confused about a couple of things, firstly historically the siege of Leningrad lasted from late 1941 to early 1944 and as far as I know there was no street fighting like this anytime in the winters of ’41, ’42 or ’43. The other thing is it seems highly unlikely the Russians would be riding on the T34 seemingly oblivious to Germans infesting the house right next to them. In any street-fighting both sides would be sheltering behind anything/everything.

Judging by current Russian tactics I would not be surprised if they had ridden into battle like this back then.

jwan welcome to Armorama! This is the best site on the web for armor and related subjects. Your diorama is outstanding! All of the elements are fantastic - the tank, the figures, the building, the debris - quite a grand entrance for your first post! I hope you enjoy it here, have fun and share more. Greetings.

It’s true the Germans never entered the city, they blockaded it and then laid siege. But they did reach the suburbs, so maybe this scene fits that more accurately.

Great job!

I love the builds and the painting of the troops. The weathering also is very nicely done. One nice touch is the German with the Russian MG. You did well suggesting that many troops had to rely on the emeny weapons when they were low on ammo.

I have to agree with others, This scene is more in line with Stalingrad that Leningrad.

Thanks everyone for the feedback — all fair points. Some placements and poses were a bit constrained. The building is loosely based (about 80%) on the Catherine Palace at Tsarskoye Selo, converted from an old MiniArt ruin kit. It reflects German occupation, looting, and billeting.

The building came excellent. The bricks look very realistic.

Welcome aboard  Everything looks great: all the figures w varied uniforms and equipment, theT34 and the riders. But for me, I especially appreciate the ruined structure and it’s interior.

Cheers
