1/35 Scale maps

Hi folks, looking for some advice on adding 1/35 scale maps to a Normandy diorama I have just started (Humber armoured car and Firefly). I purchased a set of cool maps from Lanmo Model, but am wondering how to make them looked creased and battleworn without ruining them. I was thinking of wetting with paint thinner (mineral spirits) and then folding….? The map will end up spread out on the hood of the Humber. Any suggestions or tips appreciated.

I faded my maps with a light brown wash

Yes, that’s a great idea and I will try folding them to get some creases while they are still wet. I will give that a try. Thanks!
