Another nam diorama from me. It shows a cold LZ with 2 Hueys and a lot of figures.
The dio ground is styrodur, the gras is plumber’s bast.
The figures are different brands, the hueys are from Dragon and Monogram or Academy. Don’t know, it is an old kit.
I had to blacken the windows because the glue had evaporated. This made the windows white.
Nicely done, Christian. I share 18Bravo’s concern about how close the gunship is to the slick, but he isn’t going to be landing and there is the issue of available space on the diorama, so it works.
Great looking piece- very dynamic looking and I like your solution for depicting the rotors.
@SteveB - I have seen a dio using a large clear plastic disc on top of the rotor mount with a design like you see in this dio painted on it to represent the moving rotors- just like the design here it also worked quite nicely.
Nice work, happy to see a diorama with UH-1’s. (long story) I agree with comments, it’s tough in a diorama to depict actual distance between vehicles or aircraft, the dio would be huge with a lot of empty space. Some artistic license has to be taken.
This one is also really cool. Spinning rotor effect is clever. Makes me want to build some Hueys. The whole thing really conveys movement and urgency. Yet another diorama that belongs in a place where kids can see it and learn some history.
