1/350 Royal Oak by trumpeter?

I saw a coming soon announcement on Squadron. This usually means it is about a month or two out. Has anyone else heard about this? This would be the first revenge Class in 1/350th correct?

The description is incorrect, but the boxart looks correct.

I’m sorely tempted by this release. Would 1/700 for a more manageable size, but beggars can’t be choosers.
Have a family link as my mother’s uncle, Harry Griffin, was on the ship when it was torpedoed. Sadly, he didn’t make it off.

His photo even appeared on the cover of Dilip Sarkar’s book, he’s in the centre.

To be honest, this has me a lot more excited: HMS Resolution Boxart than Royal Oak…

And not because of the titular character in the foreground but that there is an Illustrious Class Carrier in the background-potentially HMS Formidable and what that might suggest in terms of Trumpeter’s intentions to release a 1/350 kit of such :cowboy_hat_face:

Sorry to hijack the thread :innocent:

Hopefully the 350 Royal Oak will be followed up by a 1/700!

Hopefully the price will be reasonable.

“Hopefully the price will be reasonable.” Depends on the amount of tariffs at that time…Oh! Wait! It’s the Chinese who will pay the tariff!

Going by current pricing of the latest releases, I’d guess mid $200AUD on release, then coming down after…

The aftermarket sets will be the price pinch…

Sigh…I guess I will have to find more room in the stash since this is a must have.

It is crazy how much the PE sets cost! Usually doubles the price of the kit. :money_mouth_face:

sometimes more… EG Pontos upgrade set for the ILOVE 1/350 cv-6 Enterprise is nearly double that of the kit here in the land of OZ… same scenario in 1/200…

It seems like just to build a 1/350 battleship with PE set and deck, It will cost you close to $500 which is insane. I am glad I have 20+ ship kits in my stash most with PE sets yet to be built. It will take me years to catch up. I may wait to see who does the PE set for his kit and how much it will set me back before I dive in.

I agree @Greg_H … All of a sudden it seems like ship modelling (at least in the 1/350 and up scales) has become a very expensive pastime…

I only have 3 ships in the stash, plus one on the bench, plus a squadron of wing things-all ready to go… At my current build rate my rule of “not buying anymore until ready to build” is paying off

However, all bets are off should an Illustrious class be released in 1/350 and my wallet will be well and truly broken in pursuit of both kit and aftermarket set plus all incendiaries required

The bench cleared of any current projects, and work would start immediately on a Taranto raid Lusty! :star_struck:

I feel like Pontos have really lost the plot with their prices or at least the retailers have. I remember when their sets didn’t cost $300-500 but it seems those days are long past, especially for the newer sets. Even their older sets are close to $200.

Luckily I don’t have many of their sets in the stash (USS Wisconsin and the aforementioned Enterprise CV-6 which I got on sale)

I know what you mean. I got most of my Pontos sets for around $100-140 on sale. For my 1/350 Enterprise I got the Infini set for $179 and an Artwox blue deck. The Pontos set was about $300. Building it now and it is very nice.
