1/48 m1025 hmmwv

Yesterday was our monthly AZ AMPS build & bull meeting. This month I decided to have a go at this kit for a comparative quick project

This kit is pretty much a scaled down version of their 1/35 kit of the same subject and quite beautifully detailed. After 3 hours work, I was about 85% done until I start painting

chassis & suspension

main body

hood and “turtleback” body top plus body & chassis

and all test fitted together

hopefully this week I can get the base colors on or by next weekend at the latest…

Today I was finally able to get in some bench time and an airbrush session using the new AK Real Color NATO colors for the chassis and body base color. They definitely have a faded/scale effect look compared to Tamiya or Revell versions of the same colors

Later in the week I hope to get the rest of the camo colors on….

Progress over the past few days. Thursday I was able to get the detail items on the chassis painted

Then yesterday I airbrushed on the NATO camo using AK Real Colors after I had glued to doors to the top and masked off the window openings

And today was airbrush on a gloss coat and once that dried, I applied the decals

Next bench session I plan on getting the flat coat on, final assembly and weathering…

The model looks as detailled and fine as the 1:35 one.

Great painting work.

Thanks guys!

@Terminator, it looks like Tamiya just scaled down the molds of their 1/35 M1025 kit. This kit really has me loving their 1/48 stuff Alexandre.

@Maki, Mario, I don’t have too much father left to go. Just a couple more sessions at the work bench should accomplish all of the remaining steps.

Here is the latest update. Earlier in the week I airbrushed on a Flat coat using Humbrol, my personal favorite.

I got the interior read for final weathering, adding the driver, and closing it up

Then I did finally assembly, adding the top, the gunner, and an antenna using .010 music wire.

I still need to add some pigments for external weathering, then I’m calling this one completed

OK, I’m calling this one finished! Paints are AK Real Colors and weathering is AK pigments. A really great kit for recharging your modeling mojo batteries

Thanks for looking… comments and critiques are welcome

Nicely done Carlos- you did a great job on the NATO camo and the woodland BDU’s.

Beautiful job Carlos! Nice build, and you really nailed the camo. Looks 1/35. Excellent BDU’s too.

@Karl187, @SSGToms,

Thanks guys! Now if I can get decent results on skin tones on 1/48 figures… I will say that there is no way that I was going to try to do the six color “Chocolate Chip” desert cammies in that small of a scale… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
