I’ll start my first topic.

Welcome aboard,

Very nice start, always had a soft spot for the Dido class. I have an HMS Naiad, although in 1/350. I will be following along with interest.

Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs: Si

If I may…this was one of my first Flyhawk kits, and one of my favorites (although now there are many!). I followed the painting guide and colors, but there were those who claimed Flyhawk had misinterpreted the colors.

I have a monograph “Light cruisers of the Dido type”. It also says that the camouflage colors were different.

“Flyhawk” announced its new model. One big disappointment.

Not another one? :person_facepalming:

Whatever happened to their promised 1/350 Prince of Wales?:person_shrugging:

Yes.
I don’t know. Same with everyone else.

Although, they released part of what they promised.

hm… I suspect the 1/350 POW has been cancelled or delayed… Still, would rather Dragon come through with their promised 1/350 Nelson class!

I noticed that this morning, but I mistook it for the 1941 kit. Bit of a disappointment that it took 2 -3 years to produce a new sprue of parts - whatever they are! There are so many other models that Flyhawk has promised. I’m still waiting for the Scheer, or a Tribal Class.

Me too.
Especially the “Scheer” after the modernization.

I continue.

I notice Flyhawk has included two sets of torpedo tubes on the same sprue. Is this because that sprue was common with a previous destroyer kit, or will there be a future release in the Martin class that has the two sets of torpedo tubes?

I don’t know.

I’d have to ask anyone who’s built destroyers. Unfortunately, I don’t have a single one.

The “L” and “M” class were designed with two sets of torpedo tubes, but the need for augmented AA capacity meant the "M"s were completed with a single 4 inch H/A mount in place of the after set of tubes. However, later in the war some "M"s had the AA mount removed and the second set of tubes reinstated.

Cheers,

M

This means there is a high probability that there will be more models of the M-type destroyers.

Martin seems to be an offshoot of Flyhawk’s “L” class models (Lance , Lively and Legion) which (with Larne) were specialised air defence variant, Martin is more typical of the other twelve ships. Flyhawk also do “J” and “K” class models which are very similar (they are actually closer to the “N” class, which were a repeat of the "J/K"s but with the forward-facing “X” mount reversed). The ancient Matchbox kit of Kelly/Kipling, still being issued by Revell, contrary to some reviews DOES include both versions of the aft deckhouse permitting construction of the Leader (Jervis, Kelly, Napier) or the other 21 vessels.

Regards,

M

Thank you. Very useful information. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy any of the destroyers. It’s hard to find them in Belarus now, unless you pay a very high price.

It’s time to install the photo etching.
