1:72 Piaggio Avanti Polish Medical Air Rescue

Hello everybody!
For many years I was watching a Piaggio Avanti air ambulance approach my local airport in Poznań, Poland and I wanted to build a model of it. After Caracal issued just the right scheme on one of their decal sets I decided to bite the bullet - and it was in 2018… I have bought the Amodel kit, and looking how bad the kit windows are I decided to replace all of them on each side of the aircraft with asingle piece of curved vivak. I also decided to show air ambulance interior and “open” the cabin door, which complicated the build and in connection with a move to another apartment made the build drag really long… But luckily I was able to finish the project!
Let me show you the window conversion first:

You can see the area replaced by clear Vivak sheet in that photo, with windows masked on both sides with Tamiya tape. As a testament to the quality of that tape - it stayed in place for about 5 years and I didn’t have problems removing it when the time came!

Here’s how the cabin looks like - and almost nothing of it can be seen now… I probably wouldn’t bother with it, knowing what I know now…

And in the end the finished model looks like this:

One more thing… I have the decals for the remaining schemes from the Caracal set, so if you need them, just contact me, I’d be glad to give them away

Very neat build Pawel. On a side note, the last livery in the picture above (white & blue) is the early Oyonnair one :

The late one has been modified to put the stress on the MEDEVAC duties their aircraft are often used for

Some of them fly over my house on a daily basis and they’re noisy…
