I have this kit on the way and am hoping to purchase a set of Cam Pro 1/72 Blue Angels decals. The last time I saw an F-4 Phantom was just after the Gulf War around 1991 at an airshow. It was impressive.
Slow start. The parts are washed and I started the interior cockpit color dark gull gray. I used this boxing," Flight Of The Intruder "to build Showtime 100 a few years back, an EXCELLENT kit for it’s age.
I have some cockpit painting and assembly. Just need to paint and add the ejection pull handles to the seat tops and it’s done.
Great start…this should look great with that final paint scheme
I just went through my spares box and found the short burner cans. Monogram also used parts to make an F-4C/D version with this kit. They used a different fuselage with the chin pod under the nose and I think different stabs and burner cans. The Navy F-4J, my kit in progress now, has the parts to make the cockpit " Navalized". The early J models used the same engine as the F-4B. I know later on there were a few Blue Angels F-4Js with the upgraded engine but early on most were B model engines. My decals coming soon are for the 1969 season which either most or all had short burner cans.
A bit more work, almost ready to start painting. Flaps and speed brakes on, bottom seams sanded and wheel wells painted white. I have the short burner cans assembled and placed in but not glued in. I need to paint them. They are one of the last items to add after paint.
