Very nicely done. That must have been a little challenging at 1/72?
Yes, creating digital camouflage is extremely patience-intensive, especially when applying each piece of masking sticker. Of course, it’s also extremely satisfying when you peel off all the masking paper after applying the final color!
Fantastic job!
Haha, that’s exactly what I felt like! The patience was running out but the result was worth the madness.
Thanks for your kind words, metalhead85😊
Your welcome, you earned it !
Do you have photos of your painting and masking process?
Hi, Dan. I’m sorry that I didn’t take any process photos while making this 1/72 scale model this time. However, I did take process photos when I previously built a 1/144 scale Chinese ZTZ-100 tank. You can click on my avatar and find this post on my homepage, which contains the process images you’re looking for. I hope that helps.
Thanks, it does. I have Meng’s ZTZ-96 in 35that needs a digital camo.
I’ve also built the Meng 1/35 ZTZ-96B model. Its design, which requires gluing individual track links onto a rubber track belt, left a particularly memorable impression on me. That’s why I eventually upgraded it with metal tracks.
That I didn’t like at all about the kit. I’ve got it built, but I just need to man up and start painting it.
Yes, if you want to paint it in a digital camouflage pattern, using pre-cut masking tape would be much more convenient. Of course, creating the vibrant striped camouflage seen in the Tank Biathlon competition is also a great option.
I’ll have to look that up as I’ve not seen it.
There are a number of videos from the competition, including one where one of the tank crews apparently dug in a track during a drift and rolled it.
Buddy, you might be mistaken about the tank model. The tank that overturned during the Tank Biathlon competition was a T-72 from the Kuwaiti team in 2015. China’s Type 96B tank has not experienced any similar incidents.
I was responding to Dan’s comment about looking up information on the tank biathlon, and not suggesting that it was the Chinese team that rolled their tank. The worst that happened to them in the first video I linked was a minor collision that tore up part of the side skirt on the right front and having their tank clap out on them, requiring a swap to a spare.
