1/720 carrier. Who made it, Revell or Italeri?

Hello All,
A while back I bought two 1/720 carriers. An Italeri Theodore Roosevelt #5531 and a Revell Nimitz (early) #05130. As I have been building them I noticed that the parts layout and parts numbers are the same (except for the aircraft and a few other parts). My question, who made the kit initially?

Italeri going back to 1978.

Thanks for your response. If I understand your response the kit was originally produced by Italeri and then reboxed by Revell, is that correct?

That is correct Joe. Both companies at least according to scalemates has made a few part changes along the way.
