This is my first try in 1/76. I know it’s not great, but I did a lot of work on it. I opened all the handles and such, removed the bottoms of the air intakes on the rear deck and scratch-built louvers and such, added Zimmerit, opened the rear doors since there is an interior(!), made some empty casings, and worked on the engine. Sadly, it’s almost impossible to see inside!! But here it is anyways on a base I made simply for photographing my tanks. Please enjoy! I first learned about these scarce Nitto/Fujimi kits on an old post on the Airfix Forum: Fujimi/Nitto 1/76 King Tiger (Henschel Turret) - The Unofficial Airfix Modellers’ Forum
Thank you, my eyes are still cross-eyed! I really thought with some lighting the interior could be seen. Oh well. But thanks! Dave
Just to add, the Nitto Tiger kits were actually pretty close to form and dimension. The problem with them, however, were the rubberband-like tracks. When Fujimi bought Nitto out in the 90’s, for some great reason (with the Tiger kits anyhow), Fujimi replaced the rubberband tracks with L&L. So, these kits are pretty special and hard to find. As far as I could research, it includes the Henschel Tiger, the “Porsche” Tiger, and I found this Jagdtiger. If you are curious as I was, just read through the article link above.
David, that’s an excellent job! If you had not said it is the small scale, I’m not sure I would have realized it wasn’t 1/35 for some time. And the diorama looks pretty good, too.
Man, I had a special edition one of these years ago that had photo edge parts and a full interior. I don’t know if I sold it, donated it traded it or what, but I know I got rid of it years ago. I wish I could send it to you.
Thank you very much, sir. I appreciate the compliment. I was shocked to learn some of the early kits most of us now disregard were not all that bad! The fellow on the attached link had lots to say about the measurements and again, Nitto was pretty darn good at least with the Tigers. It’s too bad a modern manufacturer, and I’ve asked, won’t make decent L&L tracks for 1/76 and even 1/72 for these early kits we usually disregard only due to their disintegrating rubber band tracks. I’m at least happy Fujimi thought that back in the day and swapped out Nitto’s Rubber band tracks with the L&L with the Tigers.
