13/18 Hussars D Day to Germany

My knowledge is modern AFVs. I don’t know that much about British WWII. Does anybody know about A Squadron 13/18? A friend’s dad was a tank commander in a DD and fought up until his wounding in Germany. I’m wondering about which variants they had, markings etc.

That’s a bit of a sweeping request. 13/18H were part of 27th Armoured brigade for D Day, so a bit of Googling might help there. I also find it useful to look at the decals sets available such as those by Star and even the smaller scale ones available from Dan Taylor Modelworks - they often have colour schemes and complete markings available.

Then there’s literature:

I’m sure there’s a lot more out there. Good luck.

I suppose it is. I did some googling and only turned up C squadron I read somewhere the different squadrons had different marking systems. Two digits or three. Then they changed after d day. But the suggested book looks promising.

It looks like it might provide a lot of answers and doesn’t look too punishing price-wise, although that’s always subjective perhaps(!)

i want to build an M4A1 DD tank to add to my Sherman collection, but finding a conversion kit that doesn’t cost you half a month’s pay has proven challenging.

I was just about to ask…

Still not cheap but a few kits worth, hopefully half months pay.

Yeah, Resicast is the only answer and one of those kits would certainly require a bit of saving and planning. I have the M4A1 DD small hatch kit. I also have the materials to build the screen. It’s just a matter of blocking out a huge amount of time in the queue and actually executing those plans… maybe for my 70th birthday…stick around…
