1960's 3rd tank regiment Detmold

Found this short video, may be of interest to some.

Noted plenty of red primer on those Centurions!

Good stuff! Interesting how bright their tow cables are.

Well that’s a blast from the past, that’s Hobart Barracks in Detmold. At 0.40 when the bugler is playing reveille the building he is in front of is the back gate guardroom on Richtofen Strasse https://maps.app.goo.gl/aVUJ3mZB38u5Y8jz6, possibly the main gate in those times. I would imagine the training area they travel to is Stapel Training Area in Augustdorf, https://maps.app.goo.gl/cmjiZzop3D1Y3o7dA home to a Panzer Battalion in Rommel Kaserne.

“Time for a drink in the Sergeants’ Mess before lunch?” Jeez; never to be seen again! Mind you, those were the days when we had a 90 minute lunch “hour”, which I also recall. Hmmm.

However, for some strange reason I now want to build a Centurion.

5 AFV Club Cents, Mk.1, Mk.5 w/Dozer, 2x Ozzie 5/1 and a Mk.6, plus an Amusing Hobby Swedish Strv 104 Cent all sitting next to the bench. Several AFV Club IDF versions further away in the larger stash and an Accurate Armour Mk.11 and ARV Mk.2.
Cent fan, count me in.
