1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. A New Perspective

I had the opportunity to enter an online contest for the Fine Scale Modeler magazine’s BAMM, (Build A Model Month), and subsequently won first place in the automotive/motorcycle category.

Prizes included a one year subscription to the magazine, a $50.00 gift card for the “Trains.com” store, and an appearance of my model in a future issue of the magazine.

That required that I take some more photos of my '64 Bonneville, so I thought I could just as well post those here as well.

Enjoy folks!

As always, any comments or criticisms are welcome.

Well seeing these pics it’s no surprise you won first place! It is a beautiful looking model- a striking and bold color that combines well with the silver and chrome. The contrast with the more subdued and ‘used’ tones of the engine bay and underside is awesome.

I’d love to know what kit you used for this and what was the paint?

Yeah, it’s a beauty! I especially like the underside. It’s not easy to have that looking realistic and not totally junked out. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Spectacular build and paint. Especially all the trim detail. So much realism.

The kit is an original AMT annual from 1964 that has been highly modified using parts from various modern kits as well as substantial scratch building to bring the model up to modern detail standards. The paint is correct 1964 Pontiac “Aquamarine” from MCW.

The sheen on that top, and being able to look down into the carb - great stuff!

Beautiful work. Looks like it should start.
I actually owned a 66 Bonneville and wish I still owned it.
