1970 Dodge Challenger TA redo

I was thinking that i may try another type of 2k clear on a scrap or spoon but for now this is good enough. i wasn’t planning on taking so long on this restoration and i want to get on to my next project.

Almost done. BMF on the trim, wheel and tires came out nice I think. I re chromed the wheels then sprayed the centers with alclad aluminum followed by a light tamiya black wash. Engine bay plumbed and wired, interior given a wood grain console dash and steering wheel. Tried my best to get the decals right, they are so old I have silvering along the edges. I need to find a six pack decal for the air filter.

The hood has been giving me fits though, part my fault. While scraping paint off where the air scoop glues I scratched the hood. Had to sand it down to repaint and the scoop broke off and has been fighting me to stay in place since. At least 3times it has popped off while I was sanding the hood. The underside is sloppy mes of glue. I can say there is nothing super about super glue. I am on my last attempt to glue this thing on, after that I am stripping and cleaning up the parts and starting from scratch!

After that some finishing touches to finish.

BTW Can anyone help me out with a pair of sport side view mirrors? Over the years they broke off and got lost.

ThanksJoe

Well finally calling this done. I probably could have done better but considering I built this 50yrs ago as an 11yr old out of the box in its original red metallic swirl plastic I think it is enjoying its transformation. The hood scoop fought me tirelessly, kept popping off all the time no matter what glue I used. Made it difficult to paint,I think I repainted it three times at least I lost count. Still not perfect but good enough for a shelf model. I owed it to the car after following me through life most of the time being ignored or abused. Now if I could find where I put the exhaust pipe and find a set of side mirrors after the originals went missing over the years it will be whole. Can anyone help with the mirrors?

Outstanding. Do you have the keys for it?
