1970 Roadrunner with 440 six pack wedge-1/24 Revell

I built a couple 1970 Roadrunners but they were wing cars. Gonna try a 2 door hard top for a change. The kit should be in by weeks end.

Indeed. When I was in high school I wanted one of these so bad. A 1:1 not a scale model.

I did finally buy a brand new one a couple years after I graduated high school. I went to a vocational high school and got a job as a union iron worker and bought a brand new off the show room Runner in 1973, gold with a 360 cu in slapstick auto transmission. I really wanted an original '68 or '69 but I settled for a new unused and un- abused one! I even built a model of it using an MPC 1974 kit backdated to the '73 I bought off the shroom floor.

The baddest car I drove was a 69’ 440 with dual carbs. In the parking lot you gave it no gas and rode the break. The car just wanted to bolt and run. I was actually glad to get it back to its parking spot.

One of my first jobs my senior year,1969 and after graduation was washing cars and delivering parts at the Chrysler/Plymouth dealer. Got to drive all the new models when they came in. Superbirds, Road Runners and GTXs, oh my!! A dream job for a 18 year old kid! Wayne

The kit has arrived. I will wash the plastic then start painting. It’s going to be Hemi Orange with a Hemi Orange 440 Six Pack engine.

I de chromed the parts, as best as I could, that should not be chrome with oven cleaner. Today’s oven cleaner is whimpy compared to what I used in the '80s and '90s. I have the engine assembled as far as I can and am waiting for my orange paint I recently ordered.

Neat work, looking great so far!

Wiring in the works? I have a 340 Duster on the shelf that I am inspired to enter into the unfinished business. I bought the original color automotive paint and primed and painted the body. That is as far as I got so maybe it is time to revisit.

Go for it Top. :+1:

It would probably qualify for either the OOB or BITS group builds also…
