Don’t think I posted this yet. I finished this back in november i think. Darrell Waltrip’s 81 championship buick. 2nd of two consecutive championships.
tamiya pure white with wetworks decals. wetworks are the most accurate as other companies have missed the fact that the green is actually has a light pearl to it. the decals for the front bumper/grill area proved difficult so i custom mixed my own paint using the decal to match to. i started with duplicolor forest green pearl and added yellow and i think a touch of grey until it matched. a final coat of testors lacquer clear to seal it. i wanted to use a 2k clear to avoid any yellowing but after all this work and two sets of decals i didn’t want to experiment. the fittings are a mix of scratch made from hex rod, some detail master and 3d printed. scratch made and 3d printed harness hardware, overflow tank and a mix of braided line from my stash. i feel i need to get neater and more realistic in the appearance of my fittings though. the wheels i ground the backs down until the slots started to show through and opened up with an exacto. painted with the same green mix as on the bumper.
It’s a snowy day here today so maybe i will get to finish up my current build and post some pictures but i don’t know, wife probably has things for me todo instead.
