2026 Campaign Ideas

Hi Denimo, the BTTNW5 campaign starts tomorrow: Best Tank That Never Was - Part 5! - Campaigns & Group Builds / Staging Area - KitMaker Network

I haven’t set up the next Convoy campaign yet, as the current one ends today, but it should be in a month’s time.

Thanks Tom.
I also want to get into the Let’s get hitched campaign. Do you figure that will start around the same time?

Don’t know - it’s not one of mine. If you look at the previous one it lists the Leader - drop him a PM!

Sent our man a pm. Hope to hear soon as I’m about one week away from finishing the M548.

How about a “I never thought that I would build this?” campaign?

It’ll be about obscure, grail, no-motivation, put-off-to-the-side or in a dark dusty corner, rare and OOP, highly prized, one-of-a-kind, super-complex, unique, bottom-of-the-stash, bought today with excitement but unopened, a “collectors kit” that shouldn’t be touched, etc. kits that you thought that you will never build for whatever reason. Now this campaign will make you build them.

The contents of the kit box have to be built to qualify. The kit can be as new as today or as old as whenever. Unlike “Vintage kit build campaign,” this campaign includes resin, PE, 3D printing, and other subject matter that you thought you will never build as a modeler but you bought the kit anyway.

Never thought you’d build resin? Build it! Never thought that you will build a 1/24 car kit but have one in your stash? Build it! Not a figure modeler but you have figure kits? Build one! Don’t build models above 1/35 scale and yet you have a 1/16 scale kit? Build the 1/16 scale kit. Never built an entirely 3D-printed kit but bought one because it looked cool? Build it! Never built a Sci-Fi or Fantasy kit but have some in your stash? Build one!

The campaign criteria possibilities are endless, but it has to be a kit that you thought that you will never build and not a base, diorama, or vignette technique (like modeling resin water for the first time) or making groundwork.

The idea has its appeal. Who’s up for running it?

You mean something that was “must have” 4 years ago but now you say, what was I thinking? I have some of those…

Don’t we all ?!

This is very intriguing. I have a few that would fit that description.

I sell those models on eBay. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes…I also changed the criteria by adding more details in the description.

I don’t remember ever seeing a campaign for the F4U Corsair.

How about a Bent wing bird aces campaign? Any era or conflict or country as long as it is an ace who flew the corsair. It doesn’t need to be a pilot who flew corsairs exclusively, he could have started in another fighter and transitioned to the corsair. It also has to be a corsair he actually flew in combat not photo opps like Pappy Boyington’s photos in white 86 lulubell.

How about a “WOW! factor” campaign?

The primary goal of this campaign is to build, paint, or base a model kit to invoke a “Wow!” response. Now this requires some thought and creativity. One doesn’t have to be an expert modeler or a professional painter, so one can use unique decals, a unique (3D-printed) subject, scratchbuild, interior scratchbuild, unique poses, unique paint scheme, unique vignette idea, awesome groundwork, great imagination, awesome LED lighting and electrical work, etc. Blood, guts, gore, and nudity generally excluded (and you’ll need to ask the campaign Admin if you think it’s absolutely necessary for your entry).

It can be historic, fictional, Sci-Fi, fantasy, or whatever to have fun. For example, the idea of a soldier carrying a medium machine gun, and a rifle, a sniper rifle, and a rocket launcher on the back along with belts of ammo is just “Wow! That’s just crazy!” It’s not realistic, but it did fulfill the "Wow!"campaign criteria to invoke such a response. Or a HUGE model kit that you built, painted, and finished is just “Wow!” as it’s five free long, Studio Scale. Or a rare Expo convention model kit that cost $700 to purchase and is just 1 out of 10 ever made in the whole world = “WOW!”

A campaign badge will be awarded to those who finished, “Wow!” factor or not, the readers will decide.

From back in the 1980s:

Everything but the kitchen sink… then it got added!

Yes, you hit the nail in the head for a great example.

Pity, I was thinking along the lines of something created by Kris Kuksi.
The centrepiece always seem to be some oversize bint with her baps in the breeze…

A great opportunity to clean out the Ole Bitz Box, Junk Shops, and skips in the street you might pass by. Note that although the opening titles of “Black Sails” were obviously inspired by Kuksi, that sculpture exists only as CGI; don’t underestimate the work required.

I’m thinking of adding a little McQue/Burdisio to the mix for added flavour…

So… Lots of unused custom car goodies… Check!

Leftover scenic items… Check!

Metric smegload of Historex bits… Check!

Old or abandoned tank kits… Check!

Yet more GW spares… Check!

And so on…

Cheers,

M

Yes, those are the appearances that are very suitable for the “Wow!” Campaign.
