2 prints SOLD OUT
Selling this 3D printed diorama or vignette kit in 1/35 - inspired by the movie, Full Metal Jacket, “animal mother” temple wall. 20 USD + postage (lowered 12/17/2024) (I take PayPal G&S). It’s a bit heavy due to the volume of resin used. Most of you may be broke from the Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales - I am, too. This may help me with some recovery.
3D printed in Elegoo Saturn 2 (8K resolution) - 11 hours of printing, 1 hour of slicing prep time, and 5 hours of CAD art work and research…
I’ll throw the hardened resin from the bottom raft used to hold the print if you want. May be useful for diorama wall add-ons. Otherwise, it’s going to trash:
And here come the “Full Metal Jacket” movie quotes…
I’ll go first.
“These are great days we’re living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth — with guns. These people we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we’re gonna miss not having anyone around that’s worth shooting.”
I’ve only seen “FMJ” movie once (total BS in my opinion). I guess we didn’t have any philosophy majors or budding Hemingways in our platoon, because the only comments after a fire fight I can recall were; 4 letter expletives, “I’m beat”, “when do we unass this s**t hole?” or total silence.
Too grouchy to continue, but remember, it’s a movie, not a documentary.

R. Lee Ermey it’s the epitome of the Marine Senior Drill Instructor. He became the measuring stick in which all future Marine Drill Instructors are measured by. Prove me wrong.
Yup, it’s for entertainment. Just movies being movies. So are Apocalypse Now and We Were Soldiers, etc. Platoon was somewhat more realistic from what I heard.
My father is also a VN War veteran - albeit with ROK Army’s 9th Division, 30th Infantry Regiment, 1972.
Wow! I hope this image opens…picked up this patch while in hospital at Cam Ranh Bay in 1970. Some ROK troops were there and one gave it to me when I mentioned I liked it.
Your Dad’s unit were some very tough guys. Short story may get a chuckle from him. At the hospital compound, patients that were close to being sent back to the field were used for light duty such as gate guards. A field grade officer from his unit arrived to visit some of the ROK troops. I was NCO at gate and had to inform him weapons weren’t allowed in the wards, so he’d have to leave his sidearm with me. The look he gave me scared the s**t out of me! His aide informed me in no uncertain terms that his Colonel was not surrendering his weapon to a Sergeant! I had to get the OD to come down to secure his .45. I still remember this Colonel, he looked every inch a professional soldier, very impressive.
Being his child was tough.
At least he’s nice to my children.
ROK Army had a lot of beatings and hazing in his days - still continues in a milder fashion nowadays. He told me how he almost beat one of his subordinates to death during his deployment for a disorderly conduct. That was an acceptable practice back then.
Since I have not had any offers or serious interests for 5 days, I am open to trades, too.
Each pays own postage in the US.
My trades wants:
1/35 M48A3 - Tamiya, M48A2C/Gs from Revell Germany, etc., other M48 kits
1/35 M1A* Abrams - would consider all brands except the awful AMT/ESCI/Italeri ones
1/35 Trumpeter BRDM-2s
1/35 modern IDF armor like Magach or Merkava
