Epic Steve - unreal. Not sure where you live or if contests are your thing, but do you ever attend the figure shows like Chicago, MFCA in Pennsylvania or the Long Island show just to name few? You would impress for sure !
This is some of the best work that Iāve seen. Absolutely outstanding!
Thanks, MH. Iām in the bush, as in, 90 miles north of Spokane, WA. Been to IPMS Seattle in 2012, but they fizzled this year. I couldnāt make a trip back east, but I know that is where all the big shows are, that would be nice.
Thank you, Taylor!
Ski, you should join us for the Seattle IPMS Spring Show on April 29. Iād love to this work of art in person.
Seattle IPMS Spring Show
Rick
Now that just might work, Rick, gonna have to play that one by ear. Not sure why it didnāt happen this year, but I was hoping they wouldnāt stop all together.
Steve, the road to get here been a joyride from the onset to watch, but the result is a real visual spectacle. One keeps going from photo to photo and back again, and you keep seeing new things every time! Thank you for this journey. I hope the next one will be just as pleasant!
54mm? Ski, this whole time I have been thinking these figures were 120mm and been wholly impressed by your work. Now I am just flabbergasted. Unbelievable that you can impart this much detail into 1/35 scale figures! Your level of skill and talent are just amazing. I really canāt believe my eyes. An outstanding masterwork, beautifully presented. Congratulations.
Gentlemen, both of your comments are very humbling and I appreciate every word. Yall are too kind, and Iām glad yall enjoyed the trip. Now I better sharpen the brushes again, itās paint sniffin time!
Thanks, Guys. Cheers, Ski.
Ski, last year the conference facility that we use for the Seattle IPMS Spring Show postponed their post-COVID reopening. The other facilities that I found that were large enough to accommodate the show cost 2 -4 times more. It left us with no choice but to cancel the 2022 show.
We have signed the contract for the facility this year and are keeping our fingers crossed that they wonāt shut down again.
Are you in Metaline Falls? My wife and I have spent time in Pend Oreille County enjoying the birds and wildlife. Itās pretty but man is it ever remote.
Rick
Hey Rick, Iām 16 miles north of Colville, in the bush. I can barely see my neighborās roof, and I sure the heck canāt hear em, HA! The elk rattle up a storm more often than not, actually, and thatās music to my ears, lol. They hang right below us in the canyon, what a trip!
Letās keep our chins up for a better season in 2023, state politics be dammed! Itās time to āsniff paint and glue our fingers togetherā! I would really love to go back over there, itās an incredibly beautiful part of the state, simply gorgeous, and I love it!
Keep āsniffin paint and gluin them fingers together!ā Cheers, Ski.
My 13 years old son wants me to congratulate you with the results too. He is impressed by the level of detail like dirty knees and the mud on the flagā¦
Thanks, Erwin. Tell him I appreciate the kind words. Sounds like heās a chip off the old block, a future model builder himself!
An absolute masterpiece⦠it was great seeing each figure being painted⦠but the total⦠unbelievableā¦
Gracias, Amigo. Iām glad itās done, as you can imagine. On to the next one.
I tried to get him on the art, but after a promising start he quit⦠More interested in his phone /xboxā¦
Ya, I hear that a lot. My boys would be doing it, but they have lillins to tend to, so time is tough for them. But, Iām keeping my grandson at my hip, heās all in.
He still has the kits he bought, so not all hope is lost yet. Every now and then, he eyes my work and gives me his opinion. Usually he is rightā¦
How old is your grandson?
Heās ten, so Iām going to keep him interested as best I can.
I sincerely hope youāll manage to keep him glued to the hobby. Gramps usually have more influence than dads as kids in their teens tend to distance themselves from their parents, yet not from their grandparentsā¦
Good point Erwin. The fine young lad has been busy at his improvised bench I set up for him in the model bunker. He doesnāt only think, he knows, itās cool to build models with his grandpa and watch good ol war movies, been at it all weekend.
