A-10A Thunderbolt II-Mass ANG-1/72 Hasegawa

My most likely last kit for this year. I already have 9 others started. I did an A-10A a few years back, 1/72 Italeri as a Warthog from my home state of Massachusetts. It got lost in my move here from New England to Florida so I will replace with a Hasegawa kit. It’s an old kit but builds up nice. This is the donor kit, it will be painted in their final scheme in 2007 of dark ghost gray over light ghost gray.

Here is a photo of a plane in the gray scheme from the unit I am modeling, 131st Tactical Fighter Squadron of the Mass Air National Guard at Barnes AFB in Westfield MA. Below that is a 1/72 Hasegawa A-10C, newer kit with C model parts, I built this model in 2022. It is very similar to the older A-10A kit by Hasegawa.

I did some cockpit work, painted the seat, stick, tub and found a pilot from an old Monogram A-10A Warthog kit so I painted him up and put him in the seat. Still need to add console and instrument panel decals.I also found a dual missile launcher in a Hasegawa weapons set. The older A-10A Hasegawa kits don’t have them, the new Hasegawa A-10C kit does have one.

Wings on, engine nacelles puttied up and sanded and glued on. I think these molds are at about the end of the line. Wonder when Hasegawa and a few others will do some new molds of these old subjects.
