A few Sherman turret questions

Hello all. Have a few questions for the experts out there so here is what I plan. I have the “Big Box” Takom set from Andy’s Hobby that has M4A1 76 VVSS and M51 Degem Alef. So here is my dilemma. I have a perfectly serviceable Degem Alef lower hull converted from the Tamiya M51-just the turret is messed up (the twin antenna mounts). My thoughts were to just add Takom turret to this hull. That leaves me with the makings for an M-1 Super Sherman from the hull from Takom as everything is there to do this. I know, I’m long-winded.

My thoughts were to add the turret from the M4A1 as it has a mantlet cover in the extra stuff for the M1 SS. I have an extra Tamiya 76 turret that I want to use for the M-1 vvss. I am building the M1 on the cover of Dr Robert’s Vol 12 book.

Tamiya marked as American Steel Foundry and Takom as Union Steel. Can I take the Tamiya turret and get rid of set-up pads, move/change part number and add turret serial number to sides, and create forward antenna bulge to make an accurate Union Steel turret?

Hi Dan. I had already gone there and it didn’t give any more than I already had. I think I’m going to finish the M4A1 (M-1) as is and tinker with the Tamiya turret later. It is definitely doable. On another note, did you use the kit supplied PE light guards or aftermarket? I don’t remeber.
