Not something you see everyday.

Will be interesting to see how it goes. A-Model have an interesting range of kits if you like Soviet Cold War jets. Always wanted to pick one up but they have a reputation of being… challenging, shall we say.

Good luck with it

Yes, “challenging” is an understatement … :joy: :joy: :joy:

My last two A-Model kits ended up in the bin… so I hope, that I can make this one work.
Modest goals :

  • stand on it’s wheels.
  • wings aligned
  • fuselage closed

:joy:

Just cleaned up the fuselage.

Worked on one of the engine nacelles, part 50 needs trimming otherwise you’ll never close the engine main parts … Putty will be for another session.
This kit drains my mojo very very fast

It was a very difficult kit, fitting issues everywhere, engine nacelles, fuselage.
Putty everywhere… I lost a wheel so I had to close the wheel bay doors, this one is sitting on it’s belly.
It’s as far as I know, the only Yak-27 available, the A-model kit.
I’ve seen a couple finished at Scalemates… but I can’t achieve those results. You need to be very, very patient to achieve a decent result with this kits.

Maybe one day HobbyBoss, Tamyia or Eduard might tackle the Yak 25-27-28 Family and we will have some decent kits to work with.

A difficult build but it looks fantastic! It’s a good looking jet, it just screams speed at you. That era when to make them fast, designers just made them pointy and swept the wings as far back as they could. Would be great to see a new modern tooling of the Yaks
Congratulations on finishing.

Now, treat yourself to a well deserved drink and a nice, easy, better fitting project.

Thanks !!
HobbyBoss did the Yak-28 in 1/48th awhile back, so I guess they have the tools needed to build more versions and also do 1/72nd kits.
I finished it awhile back but didn’t post anything for awhile.

And then I started Kittyhawk Mig-25 PD/PDS kit and also Zvezda’s Su-2 both in 1/48th scale .
I’ll set up the threads.

Cool. I’ll be watching those.
I got ICM’s 1/72 Mig-25 in Iraqi markings not long ago. Really want to get started with that as it looks like a great kit. It’s the recce version fitted out as a long range bomber. It surprised me as to how big the Mig-25 is. Hadn’t realised until I started looking at the plastic!
