Hello, i decided to build a M1A1 during ODS, which kit is best for this ?
also have some questions about M1A1 itself
little “mushroom” shaped cap is intake for personnel heater, but how does it look like when this cap removed ? maybe some good pictures of cap itself ?
vehicle must have low profile pre-filter ? or high one ?
air filter intake, some vehicles have plate with circular cuts, and box shaped structure between sponson outer plate and plate with cuts, some vehicles have straight plate without cuts and straight plate next to it(instead of a box structure), which one is correct for ODS ? and why this change was made ?

The plate with circular cutouts is to accommodate air intake stacks for the deep water fording kit. A 2 piece grill over the intake indicates a vehicle so equipped as does a frame around the exhaust to bolt the exhaust stack to. As far as time period when this was introduced I don’t know.

Would you be willing to share the photos you made these crops from ? I recognize some but others are new to me.

If I’m understanding you question correctly, the crewman is holding the pre cleaner stood up on it’s end, it mounts over top of the air cleaner horizontally.

I wonder if the gap is there to aid in venting of the hull 6 round ammo stowage.

ammo stowage venting there is a bit complex in shape, there is inclined plate near to ammo rack(m1a2 render, but ammo rack area must be same), and then sponson stowage box wall, but it’s not “vented” through “pocket” near to bilge pump tube, but haven’t seen any good photos of this area
one more picture of low profile pre-filter(from armorama if i remember correctly)
