Does anyone know the best kit out there with the Abram Tank interior? I know Rye Field Has 2 out ,not sure of the difference as far as interior goes.
George
Pretty sure they’re the only Abrams with correct interiors. Somebody - Tamiya or Dragon - did one years ago that was wrong since they hadn’t been widely photographed yet. As to the RFM tanks, I don’t think there is ANY difference in the interiors between the two of them; rather the exterior bits are changed.
There’s no difference in the interior parts between Rye Field M1A1/A2 with interior
M1A1/M1A2, Rye Field Model RM-5007 (2016) (scalemates.com)
…and their M1A2 SEP TUSK I / II with interior
M1A2 SEP Abrams TUSK I /TUSK II, Rye Field Model RM-5026 (2019) (scalemates.com)
The only major difference between these kits is the inclusion of the TUSK parts.
There are optional parts depending on whether you want to build an M1A1 or M1A2.
These are the best Abrams interior kits. The others are the old Dragon M1A1/A2 kits
M1A1 w/Mine Plough, Dragon 3516 (1992) (scalemates.com)
And the old Italeri M1A1 with resin interior parts:
M1A1 Abrams, Italeri 6438 (2004) (scalemates.com)
Neither of these are up to modern standards and the interiors are only very partial (e.g. no turret basket)
If you’re not into 1/35, there are now aftermarket interior kits for both 1/48 and 1/72 abrams too.
Expect one from one of the Russian companies since they’ve captured a few from the Ukraine… just sayin
.
Captured intact?
The Rye Field ones are the most complete and up to date. There are a couple different interior parts for the M1A1 and M1A2 versions.
Yeah they drove one in Moscow… made everyone’s hairs stand on end.
How is this off topic?
