Admiral Hipper & HMS Glowworm

Who makes the best versions in 1/350th scale of these kits?? I know White Ensign used to make HMS Gloworm, but don’t I believe anymore? Can trumpter’s G class be built into HMS Glowworm?

Hi Mike,

The WEM Glowworm is still available through Atlantic models, as far as I am aware the only Admiral Hipper available in 1/350 is the Trumpeter kit, it does need a bit of work, but it’s not too bad.

I hope that helps,

Can the Admrial Hipper be made into the timeframe she and HMS Glowworm came together?

Hi Mike,

The Trumpeter kit is 1941 fit, there are a few differences, I built the a year or so back in a late summer 1940 scheme. There a few difference, from memory nothing major. I will see what I can find in my references. Some good photos on the web.

May take me a while with Christmas coming up.

Hi Si,

Many thanks for the reply and just sent the information when you can, it will be greatly appreciated and to be honest I am in the HMS Warspite 2nd Battle of Narvik rabbit hole atm.

And by that I mean wanting to backdate the Academy kit, to 1940, I have just ordered the Hobbyboss Type IX-B to build U-64, have kits of both the Fairy Swordfish Mk I floatplane, Supermarine Walrus both in 1/48th, I will also convert a 1/350th Fairy Swordfish into a floatplane version. And am currently debating if between Zevesda, Dragon and Iron Shipwrights I could possibly make Z13 I believe named the Erich Koellner.

That in turn is leading me into a Dornier 217 with Fritz-X bomb.

Then its a toss up between either the Admrial Hipper and HMS Glowworm, IJN ISE or the Roma?? I only started thinking about the Roma ysterday, and thought it could be a good tie in with HMS Warspite and the Dornier 217 Fritz-X.

Have a great Christmas
Cheers
Mike
