Afv Club Churchill early tracks advice

Howdy Guys.

At our model meeting tonight we were putting together early track sets for the Afv Club Dieppe Mark 3 Churchill kit.Instructions followed to try and make them flexible.Found them a nightmare to flex and mesh with the Sprocket teeth.Anybody had any pointers or advice as they kept falling apart even after being left for a considerable time.Thinking maybe next time just assembling the track around the sprockets and idlers and doing the longer runs link and length style.

They’re very easy to assemble, I found, but you have to do it the right way  I’ve built both types of AFV Club tracks as well as some lengths of spares, and never had any problems with them falling apart.

As I recall, you need to hinge an “inner” plate into a “second” plate, and then glue an “outer” plate to the first “inner”: put a drop of glue on the plate and press the two firmly together. Hook a third “inner” to the second, then glue a second “outer” plate to the second “inner”. Repeat

Like Jakko said. After 2 or 3 links, It will become apparent on how to proceed. After 10 to 15 links , you will have it done on no time. It is that simple.

Cheers guys.I think because it was someone elses model i had to try and cobble them together as hes well a bit ham fisted with little patience.Im not one to criticise others work but his wheels were all arse about face and he wanted to bin the kit.I said not to and to not be so hasty. He had put a long length together and a lot of glue had made them rigid.I try and be diplomatic but it wasnt the way id have assembled them.Good job ive got a fair lot of patience.I did say to make a Tamiya Churchill first and Afv Club with a bit more experience.Ive got 4 or 5 sets of my own to do.
