Any update on this kit FV35350 M110A2G
Looks good. I am hoping it comes with a canvas as well.
Me too; there’s simply no point otherwise - or at least in my book.
Wonder if it can easily be turned into a US version.
The biggest difference is the track, and maybe the sprockets. I’m not sure if the US track will fit the same sprockets. Also, leave off all the German-specific parts like the mirrors, jerry cans, extra lights, etc… The rest is the same as a US version.
I have the AFV kit 35110. I will just switch out the tracks and drive sprocket. As for the canvas, maybe DEF Models will make one…
If not, tissue paper and white glue will do since the whole support system is there.
Whilst I agree that’s a fix, it sort of negates the whole idea surely of AFV Club providing the supports. I hope they can do better than that and provide the canvas.
Italeri do the same with their DUKW; one version provides the supporting canvas hoops, one other does indeed provide moulded canvas sections, the rest, you’re left whistling in the wind. Infuriating.
If the G does have different sprockets, then going by the instructions for the basic M110 kit, the standard sprockets are on the sprue with the rest of the wheels so they’re probably in the kit.
The bottom image, thats a very unique vehicle, and I particularly like the driver’s helmet with the stars and stripes. The wooden pallet on the front and the marking below, not sure what that is, but thanks for posting.
The marking on the bow is a crown — it says KING’S to the left of it and a word I can’t quite read on the right. RIDE? PRIDE? Something like that, I think.
The same picture (the M110 above) appears in one of the Tankograd series on the Reforger exercises.
The caption in the book “Reforger 1969-1978” states:
At the end of every REFORGER exercise a life-(sic)firing exercise was held. Shown here is a M110 self-propelled howitzer, “King’s Pride”, of A Battery, 1st Battalion, 75th Field Artillery Regiment (Bamberg) of 72nd Field Artillery Brigade changing position at the Grafenwöhr training area. (U.S. Army)
kleenes makes foe a great canvas or even better yet the tissue paper that in a shoe box works even better
it reads “KING’S PRIDE”.
Here’s a better image of another vehicle from the same brigade. It has the word “AVENGER” on the barrel. The howitzer belongs of 2nd Battalion 75th Field Artillery Regiment, currently based at Ft. Sill, OK.
Er, I’ve done this a couple of posts ago(!)
Exactly what I said.
sorry bud didnt see your post
