Couple pics I’ve seen seem to show red plugs in the tailends of live AIM-120s. Not the greatest pics, so not sure if I’m seeing correct. When I worked for a company making aviaton hydraulic fittings we used red plastic caps / plugs to protect threads / keep out contamination. I could see them doing the same for the rocket motors. When fired it would just blow the thing out.
