Airbrushes.com is to introduce in the new year the Iwata Vault Kustom CS Gravity Feed Dual Action Airbrush.
Outstanding. An Eclipse with a larger cup will be a perfect base coat or primer airbrush. If you have larger items to be painted this will be an improvement. Put a .5 needle and nozzle in it and you can keep a wet edge while doing a larger surface such as a 1/350 aircraft carrier hull or an RC aircraft.
I do like Iwata guns…BUT…at over 500 bucks CDN, I’ll pass…! The new Gaahleri brushes that have come to market are FAR cheaper for the average builder. Removable cups, exchangable needles, most of all a price that’s LESS than half the price of the Iwatas. I’ve tested the Gaahleri guns, and they are top quality, with many good features…just my 2c worth
If you want an Iwata airbrush that will do all this, just spend $100 on a Revolution CR (.5mm nozzle) and buy a cutaway handle for it. No reason to spend $500 on a curated model.
Evening folks, My IWATA Vault Kustom CS limited edition just arrived in the mail yesterday. Very nice airbrush as one could expect but uniquely heavy solid but not in a bad way, sturdy I guess. I had not long ago purchased an IWATA HP-C from 1998 used on Ebay that has the similar vintage double cut out airbrush handle, But the double cut out handle version for this Vault Kustom CS is made physically though slightly different from it prior versions release and pairs really well with the front end IWATA Eclipse-ish airbrush body.
But with a major plus in it’s 0.5 oz/15ml gravity feed huge fluid cup that no doubt adds to this airbrushes hefty in hand feel. Again not mad at all this airbrush feels good in your hand. I added an alternate IWATA Takumi trigger/main lever over the OEM heightened trigger/main lever. I gotta say, I really didn’t need another airbrush I just wanted this IWATA Kustom CS Vault special edition release, And I can say it’s a solid IWATA built airbrush with.35mm fluid needle and nozzle like it’s IWATA Eclipse CS predecessor which pretty much sprays the gamut of max to min spray widths in an airbrush to include semi broad spray pattern to fine detail.
As far as pricing I caught great deal with themerriartist.com paid $190 plus 10% off brought my purchase total with alternate IWATA Takumi trigger/main lever to $190.25 (Free Shipping). That was great savings as this airbrush retails with IWATA for $262.00. It’s one of many Vaulted airbrushes to come says IWATA but it’s a limited edition too. Get yours while supplies last.
Hi!
Thanks for the airbrush review and welcome to the forums. Looks like you’ve got a great setup there. Post some of your work if you’d like.
Thank you for welcoming me here at the KitMaker forums , I will post as often as possible. I’m a long time part, time airbrush artist with lots of knowledge on the craft and it’s equipment i.e. airbrushes, air compressors, some paint mediums.
Welcome along to the forum. I’m sure your advice and knowledge about airbrushes will be appreciated here.
That is an option, Agreed there are other IWATA airbrushes in IWATA’s airbrush line up that are very similar i.e, the standard IWATA Eclipse HP-CS which when compared it’s primarily the IWATA Vault Kustom CS cup size and double cut out handle that make up the majority of differences between the two airbrushes. There is another substantial difference and that is the IWATA Vault Kustom CS’s in hand weight. Which as I stated here above this isn’t a knock. In some cases a heavier brush can help with airbrush line drawing detail work.
The price for the limited IWATA Vault Kustom CS retail MSRP is $262.00 direct from IWATA and sells at most major IWATA distributors here in the U.S. @ $224.00. I personally caught a sale and had a 10% coupon that brought my grand total to $190.12 with a alternate IWATA Takumi trigger. i purchased from www.themerriartist.com .
