I just picked the AK 3rd generation 4B0 Green paint for WWII Russian armor. In the past I had issues airbrushing this paint (airbrushing clogging/tip dry). With that said, does anyone have suggestions on thinning the paint (i.e, thinner to paint ratio) as well as air pressure? Looking for what worked best for you.
I haven’t any problems using their paints. I only use their thinner to thin the paint, and lately have been adding their flow improver. I think my air pressure is around 18 psi. Only real issue I’ve had is cleaning it completely out of the airbrush. Clean the airbrush once and then clean it again a few hours later to prevent the needle from sticking to the nozzle.
100% agree with Dwill104. I will usually spray even lower but depends on what I’m doing. Always use their thinner and flow improver, occasionally. I usually clean with windshield washer fluid, however, have recently used their 3G Perfect Cleaner (AK11505). Actually does a very nice job!!! Works well on cleaning other acrylics too…. Hope that helps!
I use the AK 3G thinner AK11500 and the AK 3G Flow improver AK11510. For the paint to thinner ratio, it’s pretty much the typical consistency for airbrushing, like milk. I don’t know what that works out to. Maybe 30%? I’ve never measured it out. If it’s too thick or thin, I’ll adjust.
