Airbrushing Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone would have recommendations on thinner and mix ratio for airbrushing Tamiya Semi-Gloss clear? I’m planning on applying it to a T-34 I’m working on so I can add filters and washes later on. Thanks.

I find every time I spray it that I just have to eyeball the mixture until I’m happy with the result.

I use the MRP Semi gloss clear, the result is perfect out of the bottle.

Mix it 50\50 with Mr. Color Levelling Thinner and you can’t go wrong. Shoots like silk.

No particular secrets - just mix, reduce and spray like any other Tamiya acrylic. Put it on wet (not runny, of course) and try to avoid dry-spray and over-spray (which for any clear will create “frosting”).

One thing that I’ve come to appreciate with the Tamiya clears, gloss, semi, and matt, is that all three can mixed together to create varied levels of sheen for variety. At any rate, my experience is that the Tamiya clears spray exactly the same as the colors.

I’ll give that a try as I have Mr. Color Leveling thinner.
