Airfix 1/72: Hawker Tempest Mk.V

Hi mates!

Her comes my new Hawker Tempest Mk.V in 1/72 scale from Airfix.
It’s a fine little kit. Nice details, good fit.
I built out of box, only photo-etched seatbelts and a cannula as antenna mast.
Colours from “Mr Color” (Gunze), Tamiya, Revell and AK.
The display is simply a slate board with a glued-on graphic.

Very nice indeed… You’ve made a grand job of the build, paint, weathering, display and photography…nice one.:clap::clap:

I’m typically not a fan of Airfix recessed panel lines, but you have done a masterful job of accenting them! I will be studying this for sometime. Nice build, BTW.

I like the idea behind the base . It’s just a little too Brite color wise and steals the eyes away from your beautiful work on the kit.

Just my opinion but in a black white grey version the work on the plane would stand proud and not compete with the base. Sorry I’m not trying to be mean it’s just the judge in me

Hi guys!

Thanks for your comments. I’m glad that you like my Tempest.

Since Hornby took over at Airfix, the quality of the models has improved significantly…in my opinion. The distinctive panel lines are debatable. At least they have been improved. While they were still real trench lines on the Spitfire Mk.I, I think they are now generally acceptable.

The fit of the new Airfix model kits is certainly up to date, as is the level of detail. And in terms of price, they are definitely in the top league…!

Robert, you don’t need to apologize. That’s what a forum like this is for. To hear (read) different opinions and views.

And if criticism is constructive, I welcome it.

And you’re not entirely wrong. However, in the live view, the contrast between the display and the model is not quite as disturbing.

Have a good time and keep the workbenches steaming.

Cheers
Stefan :sunglasses:
