Hi mates!
Here comes a new “Efendi Fighter” for my long-term project (since 2012) “100 Years Turkish Air Force”.
In March 1947, the Turkish Air Force received four Spitfire PR.XIXs overhauled by Vickers, which were then assigned to the high-altitude reconnaissance unit.
I used the kit from Airfix. This is quite easy to build. However, you can notice the age difference between the Spit and my recently built Tempest. The Spitfire is one of those with the rather pronounced panel lines. In real life, they are not so noticeable, but the camera’s macro mode ticks a little differently.
I built out of box, only the cockpit has some harness from Airmodel and the antenna on the back of the fuselage is a broom bristle.
It was painted with colors from Tamiya and Revell. The Turkish national emblems are from “Tiger Head”.
Weathering with a light oil paint wash, a little drybrushing and the use of a little pastel chalk.
The display is simply a slate plate which I have glued a printed graphic onto.
