Airfix Gulf Porsche 917

Hi, this is the only car kit I’ve made in modern times. An interesting experience having to deal with completely different painting and finishing techniques to armour modelling. The kit also has a few challenges to overcome. I managed to melt the body on the first attempt and had to buy another kit.

The consequence of all this is that it took eight years to complete. Fairly pleased with a relatively neat, shiny and colourful finish, though it could definitely better. Even though he was fully painted and ready to go in, I decided it looked better without the figure.

That’s a nice little model. Very well build; some panel liner would make it even better :grinning:

Thanks, yes, I guess you are right. I’ll have to think about how to get the right degree of subtlety and neatness - I don’t think I can just wade in with the usual method I’d use on a tank.

Adding some panel liner, is a breeze, with a nice glossy paint job. a dark grey acrylics wash perhaps.
